I’ve always found that a visit to the spa is a way to relieve the stresses of life or to simply be pampered for a few hours if not an entire day.  It’s something I always look forward to…. “me time”  …that helps me just to take some time for myself and forget about the daily grind of life.

Unfortunately going to the spa can be expensive, and not everyone has a lot of of money to simply spend as they wish, so for many people a spa visit becomes a ‘treat’ for most. Luckily you can avoid the hassle and costs involved in a visit the spa. How?

Pedicure at HomeDo what I do!  By bringing the spa to your own home! You can quickly learn how to make homemade spa products and homemade skin care products to enjoy whenever you like in the comfort of your own home on your own time. While the environment may not be the same as it would be at an actual spa facility, it doesn’t mean you cannot reap the same benefits as you would with an actual spa visit…plus, you get to save a lot of money (something everyone is trying to do now days).

You will also spend a lot less money buying just a few ingredients, depending on the spa product you decide to make and enjoy. Many of the items that you need to make homemade spa products you may probably already have in your kitchen. Let’s discuss how to make homemade spa products that you can pick and choose to suit your needs best.

How to Make Homemade Spa Products

Body scrubs are a wonderful treat to the skin that can make your skin silky smooth and oh so radiant. Some body scrubs that are sold at stores can be a tad pricey and those that are affordable do not always provide the best results. This is even more true for those who have sensitive skin. Many spa products designed for sensitive skin can be very expensive but not anymore, now that you can make your own.

You can make body scrubs using salt, sugar (white or brown), coffee and even oatmeal.

Boxy scrubs are used as an exfoliate to remove dead skin cells leaving silky smooth skin. Simply mix your base, salt or sugar, with an essential oil of your aroma choice. Start with a couple teaspoons until the body scrub has your desired consistency. Store in a container such as a jar. It’s that easy and is why anyone can learn how to make homemade spa products.  After I use these on my skin I normally get compliments from a few people…yes, it even makes me blush!

You might also wish to learn how to make homemade spa products that are similar to body scrubs, such as bath oil. You can create your own luxurious bath oil with your all-time favorite scent. Bath oils can nourish and moisten the skin while leaving you feeling completely relaxed at the same time. Homemade bath oils are less likely to leave you with that oily skin residue unlike some store bought oils, that seems to stay no matter how hard you try to completely remove it. Making your own bath oil is really easy.

Here’s how I do it:

First you want to choose your base oil. Castor oil is a wonderful base as it disperses in water better but a light base would work too such as sunflower or almond oil. Next you need to choose your favorite essential oil. Take a glass jar or bottle and pour the base oil inside. Add up to twenty drops of the essential oil to the base. Now cover and mix well by shaking. When it’s time to enjoy your homemade bath oil add a tsp to your water and mix with your hands. This oil should store up to two weeks but if you do not plan to use it all before that time, consider making smaller amounts at a time so as not to waste any.
